Audit Associate (Remote - South Africa | Independent Contractor | US Hours)

Overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Audit Associate to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone based in South Africa who is eager to work with a US-based client, gaining international exposure while working remotely.

As an Audit Associate, you’ll play a key role in supporting audit engagements, analysing financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You’ll be working closely with a collaborative, high-performing team that values accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in the execution of audit engagements from planning through to completion
• Analyse financial statements and identify discrepancies or areas of risk
• Prepare and maintain audit documentation in line with audit standards
• Perform testing of internal controls and substantive procedures
• Work closely with senior auditors and managers to meet deadlines and client expectations
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally
• Stay up to date with accounting and auditing standards (US GAAP exposure is a plus)

What We’re Looking For

• Completed degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Progress toward or completion of SAICA articles is highly advantageous
• 1-3 years of audit experience (preferably in a firm environment)
• Strong understanding of audit principles and financial reporting
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Working Arrangement

• Location: Remote (South Africa-based candidates only)
• Hours: Must be available to work US business hours (this is non-negotiable)
• Type: Independent contractor (not a permanent employment role)
• Tools: You’ll need a stable internet connection and a reliable workstation
