Commercial Litigation Attorney (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Commercial Litigation Attorney to join their legal team on a completely remote basis. This position is ideal for a seasoned litigator who excels in managing complex commercial disputes and thrives in a virtual work environment. You will be responsible for representing the company in various legal proceedings, offering strategic advice on dispute resolution, and contributing to the protection of the company's interests from anywhere in South Africa, with a focus on supporting operations related to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of commercial litigation, from pre-litigation strategy to trial and appeals.

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.

• Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and develop persuasive legal arguments.

• Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.

• Advise business units on potential litigation risks and dispute resolution strategies.

• Effectively manage external counsel and litigation budgets.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of dedicated commercial litigation experience.

• Proven track record of successfully handling complex commercial disputes.

• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a remote setting.

• Strong understanding of procedural rules and evidence law.
