About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Construction Health and Safety Officer to join their team in a fully remote capacity . This role is essential for ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations across various construction projects, regardless of physical location. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to remote site teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of occupational health and safety legislation within the construction sector and the ability to foster a strong safety culture through virtual engagement and comprehensive training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems for construction projects.
• Conduct regular virtual site audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide expert advice and training to site personnel on health and safety procedures and best practices.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incident reports.
• Stay up-to‑date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Promote a positive safety culture through proactive communication and engagement with remote teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry, preferably with remote oversight experience.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act).
• Relevant professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NOSA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical safety solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of delivering effective virtual training.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and virtual communication platforms .
