Cybersecurity Engineer - Remote First

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to join their fully remote team, based operationally out of Tembisa . In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects our digital assets. You will work on advanced security technologies, threat mitigation strategies, and proactive defense mechanisms. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security.
• Conduct security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate potential threats.
• Develop and refine incident response plans and procedures, and participate in forensic investigations.
• Implement and maintain security policies and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Automate security processes and tasks using scripting and programming languages.
• Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to enhance defensive capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a cybersecurity engineering or similar role.
• Proficiency with cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, cryptography, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed, remote team.
