About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated In-House Legal Counsel to join their fully remote legal team. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, providing comprehensive legal support across various business functions. You will be responsible for advising on corporate law, regulatory compliance, and commercial agreements, acting as a key legal advisor to internal departments. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, adept at managing their workload independently, and possess excellent communication skills to foster strong relationships with remote colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring legal excellence without geographical constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate matters, compliance, and risk management.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documents.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable South African laws and regulations.
- Support business units with legal queries and solutions, fostering a culture of legal awareness.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
- Stay abreast of legal developments and their potential impact on the business.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney or qualified legal professional with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Solid background in corporate and commercial law , with proven contract drafting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a remote caseload effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and virtual collaboration platforms.
