About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Information Security Engineer to join their fully remote team, supporting operations based out of Tembisa . This is a remote-first opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects our digital assets. You will work on cutting-edge security solutions, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and data. This position demands a proactive approach to cybersecurity, with a strong focus on engineering robust defenses and responding to emerging threats in a globally distributed environment. You will collaborate closely with virtual teams to champion security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage security solutions such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security.
- Develop and automate security processes, including vulnerability scanning, patch management, and incident response workflows.
- Conduct security audits and penetration testing to identify and remediate vulnerabilities across the network and applications.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Monitor security logs and alerts, investigate suspicious activities, and manage security incidents to minimize impact.
- Research and recommend new security technologies and approaches to enhance the organization's security posture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in information security engineering or a similar role.
- Proven experience with security technologies and tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, EDR).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, suitable for a fully remote work environment.
