Intellectual Property Lawyer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced and innovative Intellectual Property Lawyer to join their virtual legal department, offering a fully remote position. You will provide strategic counsel on IP matters, manage IP portfolios, and advise on IP-related transactions and disputes. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the prosecution and maintenance of the company's patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios globally.
• Advise on IP strategy, including freedom-to-operate analyses and IP due diligence for transactions.
• Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements such as licenses, joint development agreements, and assignments.
• Represent the company in IP litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Provide guidance on trade secret protection and enforcement.
• Stay current with IP laws and trends to advise on potential risks and opportunities.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience focused specifically on intellectual property law .
• Proven expertise in patent, trademark, and copyright law, with experience in drafting and prosecuting applications.
• Strong understanding of IP licensing and IP litigation.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage client relationships in a remote setting .
