Lead Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Projects (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to spearhead infrastructure projects from their fully remote operations base. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who can manage complex projects, lead diverse teams virtually, and ensure the successful delivery of high-impact infrastructure developments across the country. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from conception and design through to construction oversight, all managed within a dynamic remote-first framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of significant civil infrastructure projects, including water, sanitation, and transportation components.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, scope definitions, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee design teams, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, government bodies, and community representatives.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to project engineers and technical staff.
• Mitigate project risks and resolve complex technical and logistical challenges.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and impact assessments.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders in a virtual setting.
• Monitor project progress, performance, and financial aspects, reporting regularly to senior management.
• Champion innovation and best practices in civil engineering project delivery.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering project management, with a strong track record in infrastructure development.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of various civil engineering disciplines (e.g., water, transport, structural).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Exceptional communication and problem‑solving abilities, crucial for remote leadership.
• Proficiency in project management software and relevant design tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive project success in a remote environment.
