Lead Drilling Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking energy company, is seeking a highly accomplished Lead Drilling Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across various projects. This role requires extensive experience in deepwater and unconventional drilling techniques, coupled with strong leadership abilities to guide project teams and mentor colleagues. You will play a crucial role in shaping our drilling strategies and driving innovation from a remote operational center.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling programs, including well design, equipment selection, and cost estimation.
• Oversee drilling operations execution, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Analyze drilling data in real-time to identify and mitigate potential risks and operational challenges.
• Lead the technical evaluation and selection of drilling fluids, casing programs, and cementing designs.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to drilling engineers and operational staff.
• Manage relationships with service providers and contractors to ensure high performance and cost control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering , with significant exposure to offshore and deepwater environments.
• Proven expertise in well planning, BOP operations, directional drilling, and managed pressure drilling (MPD).
• Strong knowledge of drilling software and simulation tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this remote role.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously from a distance.
