Lead Mining Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Lead Mining Engineer to join their international team, supporting operations near Rustenburg . In this fully remote role, you will spearhead the development and optimization of mining plans and operations, focusing on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You will leverage your extensive expertise to guide project execution, manage technical risks, and mentor engineering staff. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive mine planning and scheduling for various mining operations.
• Oversee feasibility studies, mine design, and operational performance monitoring.
• Ensure adherence to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations throughout all mining activities.
• Collaborate closely with operations managers, geologists, and metallurgists to optimize production.
• Lead and mentor a team of mining engineers and technical specialists in a remote setting.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance mining efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in open-pit and/or underground mining operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as MineScape , Deswik, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mine economics, risk assessment, and project management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to manage teams remotely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective virtual collaboration.
