About the Role

Our client, a global leader in renewable energy operations, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Wind Turbine Technician to join their remote team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute from your preferred location while overseeing a portfolio of wind farm sites. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of wind turbine technicians, ensuring high performance and safety standards.
• Oversee and perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on wind turbines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on turbine systems.
• Utilize SCADA systems and diagnostic tools to monitor turbine performance and identify potential problems.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely ordering of necessary components.
• Coordinate with site managers and engineering teams to schedule maintenance activities and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, performance data, and component failures using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and operational efficiency.
• Champion a safety-first culture among the maintenance team.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a relevant trade qualification (e.g., Red Seal).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven experience working with major wind turbine manufacturers and models.
• Strong knowledge of wind turbine systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and SCADA systems.
• Experience with high-voltage systems and safety protocols.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in a remote setting.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel to various wind farm sites occasionally for specific oversight or complex issue resolution, although the primary role is remote management.
