Mechanical Engineer - Product Development (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer with a passion for product development to join their distributed team, remotely supporting their operations near Rustenburg . This role is pivotal in the lifecycle of new product creation, from initial concept generation through to successful market launch. You will leverage your expertise in mechanical design and analysis to create innovative, high-performance products. As a key contributor in a remote-first setting, you will collaborate closely with global teams, driving projects forward with initiative and technical acumen, contributing to a culture that values agility, ingenuity, and impactful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and systems, translating customer needs into viable technical solutions.
• Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct rigorous performance analysis , simulations (FEA, CFD), and design validation testing to ensure product integrity and efficiency.
• Work closely with remote team members across engineering, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure seamless product integration and readiness.
• Document design processes, test results, and specifications thoroughly for internal and external stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve design-related issues encountered during prototyping, testing, or production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, adapted for a fully remote work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical aspects of projects and deliver results under demanding conditions.
