The RFDS WA Medical team delivers critical care, aeromedical retrieval, telehealth and primary health services to communities across one of the largest and most remote health jurisdictions in the world.

Based in Port Hedland, you will work across aeromedical retrieval in a distinctive clinical environment, alongside RFDS doctors, nurses, pilots, coordination centre teams, regional hospitals, remote clinics and community health partners.

About the role • Provide emergency medical advice, telehealth support and clinical coordination for patients, clinicians and remote sites • Undertake aeromedical retrieval flights as part of a medical retrieval team, supporting critically ill and injured patients across WA • Participate in continuing medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement activities About you • Registered, or eligible for registration, with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner • Broad postgraduate clinical experience, ideally across emergency medicine, anaesthetics, ICU, acute paediatrics or rural generalist practice • Confident independently managing critically ill and injured patients, including procedural skills relevant to critical care medicine • Strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgement in complex and remote environments • Aeromedical retrieval experience is highly regarded but not essential, with comprehensive orientation provided • Annual professional development allowance of $34,715 and study leave provisions • Salary packaging options available, including up to $15,900 per annum for everyday expenses and up to $2,650 per annum for meals and entertainment • Fully maintained housing, utilities and family-sized motor vehicle benefits available for eligible Port Hedland-based Medical Practitioners • Relocation support available for candidates relocating from within WA, interstate or overseas • Regional incentive bonus available after the qualifying period • Access to annual leave, TOIL and other Agreement-based employment conditions About us The Royal Flying Doctor Service WA (RFDS WA) supports more than 20,000 patients each year across the largest health jurisdiction in Australia.
