Operations Manager - Power Plant (Remote Support)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic Operations Manager to provide remote support and oversight for power plant operations, with a primary connection to Polokwane . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable performance of power generation facilities. You will analyze operational data, optimize processes, and collaborate closely with on-site teams to achieve key performance indicators related to output, efficiency, and environmental compliance. This hybrid role offers a unique blend of remote analysis and occasional site visits, allowing you to contribute significantly to the operational success of critical energy infrastructure from a flexible base.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor power plant performance metrics (e.g., output, efficiency, fuel consumption, emissions) remotely.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize plant performance and reduce costs.
• Oversee maintenance scheduling and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations , safety standards, and operating permits.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and support to on-site plant management and operations personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong understanding of power generation technologies (e.g., thermal, gas turbine, renewable).
• Experience with plant performance monitoring software and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to manage complex operational challenges and drive continuous improvement.
