Payroll Accountant - Remote

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and experienced Payroll Accountant to join their team on a fully remote basis. This role is critical for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. You will be responsible for managing the payroll function end-to-end, including calculations, deductions, tax submissions, and reconciliation. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from home and requires a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely payroll runs for all employees, ensuring correct calculations of salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions.
• Manage employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation or status within the payroll system.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Liaise with HR and finance departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.
• Provide payroll reports to management and assist with payroll audits.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Payroll Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in payroll processing and administration.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., VIP Payroll, Sage) and strong Excel skills.
• Solid understanding of South African payroll legislation and tax regulations.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively in a remote setting.
