Payroll Accountant (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant for a fully remote position, serving employees across South Africa. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, managing employee benefits administration, and maintaining compliance with labor laws and tax regulations. You will be a key point of contact for payroll-related queries and will play a vital role in maintaining employee trust and satisfaction through efficient and confidential payroll management.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in calculations, deductions, and remittances.
• Manage statutory compliance, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions.
• Administer employee benefits, such as medical aid and pension fund contributions.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Liaise with HR and external payroll service providers as necessary.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or HR Management.
• Proven experience in payroll administration and accounting.
• Thorough understanding of South African payroll legislation and tax requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., VIP Payroll, Sage) and MS Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail for remote work.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for virtual interactions.
