About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Agronomist and Crop Consultant to join their remote team, providing expert advice to agricultural operations near Paarl . This role focuses on leveraging scientific principles to improve crop yields, quality, and farm sustainability, all managed through virtual collaboration. You will analyze soil and plant health data, develop tailored crop management plans, and advise on best practices for pest, disease, and nutrient management. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a passion for agriculture and a proven ability to deliver effective, data-driven recommendations in a remote setting, contributing to the success of diverse farming enterprises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct remote analysis of soil, plant tissue, and crop health data to diagnose issues and identify opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive crop management plans, including recommendations for fertilization, irrigation, and pest/disease control.
  • Provide expert virtual consultation to farmers and farm managers on optimal planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques.
  • Monitor agricultural trends and research findings to provide up-to-date advice on best practices and new technologies.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Maintain detailed client records and progress reports, ensuring clear communication throughout the consultation process.

Requirements

  • Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Agronomist or Crop Consultant, with proven experience in remote advisory roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, entomology, plant pathology, and weed science.
  • Experience with agricultural data analysis tools and software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, adapted for virtual environments.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex scientific information to practical farming situations.
