Remote AI Ethics Lead

About the Role

Our client is seeking a principled and forward-thinking AI Ethics Lead to join their organization, working entirely remotely from Mossel Bay or any suitable location. This critical role will champion the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring that AI systems are fair, transparent, accountable, and aligned with ethical principles and societal values. You will lead the development and implementation of AI ethics frameworks, policies, and guidelines across the company, collaborating with diverse teams to foster a culture of responsible AI innovation. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of technical understanding, ethical reasoning, and policy expertise, with a proven ability to navigate complex ethical dilemmas in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies , guidelines, and best practices for the organization.

• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI products and features.

• Collaborate with engineering, legal, and product teams to integrate ethical considerations into the AI development lifecycle.

• Provide guidance and training on AI ethics principles and responsible AI practices to various stakeholders.

• Stay abreast of evolving AI ethics regulations, research, and industry standards globally.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related field with an ethics specialization.

• Significant experience (5+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology policy.

• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts and their potential ethical implications.

• Proven ability to develop and implement ethical frameworks and governance structures.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, suitable for a remote environment.
