About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Remote Aircraft Systems Software Developer to join their forward-thinking engineering team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to cutting-edge aviation technology from anywhere. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions for complex aircraft systems, including flight control, navigation, and communication. This role demands a deep understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and stringent safety-critical software development standards. You will collaborate with a distributed team of experts, driving the future of aviation software with a focus on reliability, performance, and innovation, all within a remote-first culture that promotes autonomy and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and debug embedded software for safety-critical aircraft systems using languages like C/C++.
  • Develop and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) and associated software components.
  • Implement and verify software according to rigorous development processes and standards (e.g., DO-178C).
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and testers in a remote team setting.
  • Perform software integration, unit testing, and system-level testing to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Contribute to the architectural design of future software systems and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, with specific experience in aerospace or safety-critical systems.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with software development standards such as DO-178C.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment.
