Remote Automotive Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and technically proficient Remote Automotive Design Engineer to join their innovative product development team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to contribute to the conceptualization and design of future automotive components and systems from anywhere. You will leverage your expertise in CAD software and your understanding of engineering principles to develop detailed designs, prototypes, and specifications. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the aesthetic and functional aspects of vehicles while collaborating with a diverse, distributed team of designers and engineers focused on pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize advanced 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create detailed designs for automotive components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing specialists, to refine designs based on technical feasibility and aesthetic requirements.
• Develop and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Conduct design reviews and analyses (e.g., FEA, tolerance analysis) to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
• Generate design concepts and present them effectively to stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design decisions.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends in automotive design, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
• Contribute to the creation and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive design, with a strong portfolio showcasing design capabilities.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, material science, and manufacturing processes relevant to the automotive industry.
• Experience with product development lifecycles and working within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent visualization skills and a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote work environment.
