Remote Automotive Software Engineer (Infotainment)

About the Role

Our client, a trailblazer in automotive connectivity solutions, is actively seeking a talented Remote Automotive Software Engineer specializing in Infotainment systems. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to innovative automotive projects from the comfort of your home. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating software components for next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, including user interfaces, multimedia playback, navigation, and connectivity features. This role requires a strong background in software development, a passion for user experience, and a deep understanding of embedded systems and automotive standards. As a key member of our distributed team, you will collaborate with designers, hardware engineers, and other software developers to deliver exceptional IVI experiences to drivers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement software features for automotive infotainment systems using C++, Java, or other relevant languages.
• Design and build user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) for in-vehicle displays.
• Integrate various software modules, including multimedia players, navigation systems, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and mobile device connectivity (e.g., Android Auto, Apple CarPlay).
• Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux environments.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate concepts into functional software.
• Optimize software performance for responsiveness and resource efficiency within embedded constraints.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Work closely with system engineers and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues reported by testing or end-users.
• Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in automotive infotainment and embedded systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years focused on automotive infotainment (IVI) systems.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Java development for embedded systems.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet) is a plus.
• Experience developing UI/UX for embedded devices or mobile applications.
• Understanding of multimedia frameworks (e.g., GStreamer), graphics rendering, and audio processing.
• Knowledge of Android Automotive OS or similar IVI platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for a remote team environment.
