Remote Chemical Engineer - Sustainable Process Design

About the Role

This position is fully remote, offering exceptional flexibility to work from anywhere. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical background in chemical engineering combined with practical experience in designing and evaluating sustainable technologies, lifecycle assessments, and eco-friendly chemical pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize chemical processes with a focus on sustainability, including waste minimization, energy efficiency, and reduced emissions.
• Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) to evaluate the environmental impact of chemical processes and products.
• Research and identify opportunities for implementing green chemistry principles and renewable feedstocks.
• Develop process models and simulations that incorporate environmental metrics and sustainability goals.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams globally to integrate sustainable design into new and existing processes.
• Evaluate emerging sustainable technologies and assess their feasibility for industrial application.
• Prepare technical reports, case studies, and presentations on sustainable process design initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and contribute to corporate sustainability targets.
• Provide technical expertise on topics related to pollution prevention, resource conservation, and waste valorization.
• Contribute to the development of corporate sustainability strategies and roadmaps.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a specialization or strong focus on sustainability, environmental engineering, or green chemistry.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process design, development, or optimization, with a significant portion dedicated to sustainability aspects.
• Proven experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools.
• Strong understanding of green chemistry principles, renewable energy, and circular economy concepts.
• Proficiency in process simulation software, with the ability to integrate sustainability metrics.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex sustainability concepts effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
• Experience in chemical process intensification or novel reaction engineering is a plus.
• Passion for environmental protection and driving sustainable change in the chemical industry.
