About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their innovative team in a fully remote capacity, supporting projects potentially linked to the Soweto area. This role is central to conceptualizing, designing, and developing new chemical processes and optimizing existing ones. You will leverage advanced engineering principles and software tools to create efficient, safe, and sustainable process designs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, adept at virtual collaboration, and passionate about engineering excellence in a flexible, home-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual designs and detailed process engineering packages for new chemical plants and modifications.
- Utilize process simulation software to model and analyze process performance, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Conduct rigorous process safety analyses, including HAZOP studies and risk assessments, remotely.
- Select and specify process equipment, ensuring alignment with design requirements and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, project managers, and clients through virtual communication channels.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering ; Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in process design and engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Expert proficiency in process simulation and design software (e.g., Aspen Plus, AutoCAD P&ID).
- In-depth knowledge of process safety management principles and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage design aspects of complex projects remotely.
- Excellent technical communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
