Remote Chemical Process Engineer - Simulation and Modeling

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Chemical Process Engineer specializing in simulation and modeling to support their diverse operations, including those near Mahikeng. This position is crucial for developing, validating, and optimizing chemical processes through advanced computational techniques. You will work virtually with project teams to design new processes, troubleshoot existing operations, and improve performance by leveraging state-of-the-art simulation software. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated engineer with a passion for digital tools and a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop dynamic and steady-state process simulations for various chemical processes using industry-standard software.
• Perform sensitivity analyses, optimization studies, and scenario planning using simulation models.
• Validate simulation results against plant data and experimental results.
• Assist in the design and troubleshooting of new and existing chemical processes based on simulation outputs.
• Develop user-friendly simulation models and documentation for use by broader engineering teams.
• Collaborate effectively with remote project managers, chemists, and other engineers through virtual platforms.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical process design and simulation.
• Expert proficiency with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, and transport phenomena.
• Experience in troubleshooting plant operations using process modeling techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
