Remote Chemical Process Simulation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and skilled Chemical Process Simulation Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team. This role is central to designing, modeling, and optimizing chemical processes using advanced simulation software. You will play a key part in conceptualizing new processes, improving existing operations, and providing data-driven insights to engineering and R&D departments, all from your home office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering principles and extensive experience with various simulation tools, contributing to projects that drive efficiency and sustainability across the organization, supporting operations in the Eastern Cape and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and utilize dynamic and steady-state process simulation models for various chemical processes.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and optimization studies to identify the best operating conditions.
• Validate simulation results against pilot plant or plant operational data.
• Collaborate with process engineers to integrate simulation outputs into process design and troubleshooting efforts.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications based on simulation results.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in process simulation software and techniques.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process simulation and modeling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics and reaction kinetics.
• Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate technical findings in a remote environment.
