Remote Chief Mine Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Mine Planner to join their global team in a fully remote capacity. This executive-level position is responsible for developing and overseeing long-term strategic mine plans that maximize resource value while ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability across multiple sites. You will provide critical technical leadership, guidance, and oversight to mine planning teams, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage long-term strategic mine plans (10-20 year horizon) for various mining projects. Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to mine planning engineers and geological teams globally. Oversee the generation of detailed production schedules, reserve modeling, and mine design documentation. Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations , environmental standards, and corporate governance. Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and risk assessments for new projects and expansions. Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, and finance departments to align mine plans with business goals.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in mine planning and engineering, with significant experience in strategic planning and management.
• Extensive experience with advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) and reserve estimation techniques.
• Proven ability to develop and manage large-scale, complex mine plans for diverse commodities.
• Strong understanding of mining economics, financial modeling, and project finance.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
