Remote Chief Safety Officer - Mining

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Remote Chief Safety Officer with a strong background in the mining industry . Operating from a fully remote capacity, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's global health and safety strategy. This senior leadership role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, fostering a robust safety culture across all sites, and driving initiatives to prevent accidents and protect the well‑being of all personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures for all mining operations.
• Lead the risk assessment process and ensure effective control measures are in place.
• Monitor and audit safety performance across all sites, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Investigate all incidents and accidents, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures.
• Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in health and safety management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the mining sector.
• In-depth knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practices globally.
• Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to develop and implement effective safety strategies across diverse and remote operations.
