Remote Chief Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and highly competent Chief Surveyor for a fully remote position. This role is instrumental in establishing and maintaining accurate spatial data and control networks for various mining and construction projects worldwide. You will be responsible for setting high standards in surveying practices, managing survey teams remotely, and ensuring the precision and integrity of all spatial data used in project execution. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced surveyor who can lead and manage complex surveying operations independently, leveraging advanced technology and remote collaboration tools in a remote-first environment, crucial for major infrastructure and resource development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement surveying standards, procedures, and quality control measures for remote operations.
• Oversee the establishment and maintenance of high-precision control networks for mining and construction projects.
• Manage survey teams remotely, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and ensuring project deadlines are met.
• Review and approve survey data, plans, and reports for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and geologists to ensure survey requirements are met effectively.
• Stay abreast of new surveying technologies (e.g., drones, laser scanning, GNSS) and recommend their adoption.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in land surveying , with extensive experience in mining or large-scale construction projects.
• Professional Land Surveyor registration/license.
• Proficiency with advanced surveying equipment and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS platforms, Trimble Business Center).
• Proven experience in managing survey projects and teams, preferably in a remote or distributed capacity.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suited for a remote work arrangement .
