Remote Civil Design Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed plans, drawings, and specifications for various civil infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage systems, and site development.
• Utilize advanced CAD and civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Bentley products) for design and modeling.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site analyses, and impact assessments for new projects.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant local, national, and international engineering standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation for client submissions and regulatory approvals.
• Collaborate virtually with project managers, senior engineers, stakeholders, and clients to refine designs and address project challenges.
• Proactively identify and resolve design issues, offering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation for efficient retrieval and auditing.
• Participate in virtual project meetings and present design concepts and progress updates.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and workflows within the remote team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering design, with a strong portfolio showcasing infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard civil engineering design software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D, and BIM tools.
• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles related to transportation, hydrology, and geotechnical applications.
• Knowledge of relevant South African engineering standards and practices is preferred, but not essential for a remote role supporting international projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Access to a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home office setup.
• Experience with project management software is a plus.
