About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Design Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position focuses on the design and planning of urban development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You will be responsible for producing detailed civil engineering designs for site development, encompassing grading, drainage, utilities, and road infrastructure. This is an exceptional opportunity for a self-driven engineer to work remotely and contribute to significant urban planning initiatives across various regions, leveraging cutting-edge design tools and collaborating with a geographically dispersed team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design site development plans, including grading, earthworks, stormwater management, and utility systems for urban projects.
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and engineering reports using industry-standard software.
  • Ensure designs comply with local municipal requirements, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct hydraulic and hydrological analysis for stormwater systems and drainage networks.
  • Collaborate remotely with architects, planners, and other consultants to integrate designs seamlessly.
  • Review and stamp engineering plans and calculations in accordance with professional engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil site design, particularly for urban or land development projects.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and stormwater modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility design, and South African planning regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA.
