About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a specialization in coastal and marine engineering to join their fully remote team, supporting projects primarily based in Richards Bay and surrounding coastal areas. This role is crucial for the design and management of port infrastructure, coastal protection works, and offshore structures. You will leverage your deep understanding of maritime hydraulics, sediment transport, and structural design in challenging marine environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-driven engineer to contribute to significant coastal development projects while enjoying the flexibility and autonomy of a remote work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer coastal defence structures, including breakwaters, seawalls, and revetments.
- Develop plans for port infrastructure such as jetties, quays, and dredging operations.
- Conduct hydraulic and wave modelling for coastal impact assessments and design validation.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for marine projects.
- Oversee the technical aspects of construction and contractor liaison for marine works.
- Ensure designs comply with maritime regulations, environmental best practices, and international standards.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in coastal, port, or marine civil engineering.
- Proven expertise in numerical modeling for wave, current, and sediment transport.
- Experience with structural design for submerged and above-water marine environments.
- Excellent remote collaboration and project management skills.
