About the Role
Our client is searching for an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in municipal infrastructure planning to join their fully remote team, supporting initiatives across the Paarl municipality and beyond. This role focuses on long-term strategic planning for water, sanitation, roads, and stormwater systems, ensuring that municipal infrastructure development is sustainable, efficient, and aligned with community needs and growth projections. You will work with digital tools and data analysis to forecast future demands and identify critical infrastructure upgrades and expansion projects, offering a unique opportunity for strategic impact from a remote work setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update long-term municipal infrastructure master plans for water, sanitation, roads, and stormwater.
- Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for infrastructure development and upgrades.
- Analyze population growth, land use changes, and their impact on infrastructure capacity.
- Prepare capital investment plans and prioritize projects based on need and available funding.
- Liaise with municipal officials, provincial authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and approval of plans.
- Research and recommend innovative technologies and sustainable practices for municipal infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree in Municipal Engineering or Planning is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in municipal engineering, focusing on infrastructure planning.
- Proven experience in developing capital investment frameworks and master plans.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in GIS and data analysis tools.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and remote collaboration capabilities.
