Remote Civil Engineer - Roads and Highways

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Civil Engineer with extensive experience in Roads and Highways to join their fully remote engineering team. This position is ideal for an expert who can contribute to the design, planning, and project management of major road infrastructure projects from anywhere in South Africa , with a focus on initiatives in the Limpopo province. You will leverage your expertise in geometric design, pavement engineering, and traffic management to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions. This role requires a proactive, self-directed professional capable of collaborating effectively within a distributed team to drive high-quality project outcomes and enhance regional connectivity, working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of road networks, including geometric layout, intersection design, and grading plans.
• Develop specifications for pavement design, materials, and construction methods for highways and local roads.
• Conduct traffic analyses and integrate traffic management strategies into road designs.
• Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, reports, and tender documents for road construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with national road design standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
• Collaborate with remote project teams, government agencies, and construction partners to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Transportation or Highway Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the design and planning of roads and highways.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Proven expertise in road geometric design, pavement engineering, and traffic control systems.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer, or similar platforms.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a remote setting.
