Our client is seeking an accomplished Remote Civil Engineer with expertise in Water Resource Management to join their geographically diverse team, based remotely from Upington, Northern Cape. This role is crucial for developing sustainable strategies and designing resilient infrastructure for water supply, flood control, and environmental protection. You will engage in advanced hydrological modeling, water systems planning, and the design of associated infrastructure, collaborating virtually with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological studies and develop water resource management plans.
  • Design and engineer water infrastructure, including dams, reservoirs, pipelines, and flood control systems.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis to optimize water resource allocation and system efficiency.
  • Assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies for water-related projects.
  • Collaborate remotely with project managers, environmental scientists, and government bodies on policy and implementation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant environmental legislation and water quality standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Hydrology.
  • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in water resource engineering and management .
  • Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, MIKE FLOOD).
  • Strong knowledge of South African water laws and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent remote communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
