Remote Communications & Advocacy Specialist

Our client, an influential advocacy group focused on human rights and social justice, is seeking a highly skilled and creative Remote Communications & Advocacy Specialist . This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in South Africa while driving impactful communications and advocacy campaigns. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to raise public awareness, engage key stakeholders, and influence policy on critical human rights issues. This role requires exceptional writing skills, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to leverage digital platforms for maximum reach and impact. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated communication and advocacy strategies across various channels (digital, media, events).
• Create compelling content, including press releases, social media posts, blog articles, website copy, and campaign materials.
• Manage the organization's social media presence, fostering engagement and expanding reach.
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
• Monitor media coverage and public discourse relevant to human rights issues.
• Support the development and execution of advocacy campaigns, including policy briefs and stakeholder engagement.
• Analyze communication and advocacy efforts, tracking key metrics and providing regular reports on impact.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand representation.
• Stay informed about human rights issues and emerging trends in communications and advocacy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Human Rights, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in communications, advocacy, or public relations, preferably within the non-profit or human rights sector.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to craft persuasive messages.
• Demonstrated experience in digital communications, social media management, and content creation.
• Strong understanding of human rights principles and advocacy strategies.
• Proficiency in using communication and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Google Analytics).
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in media relations and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable.
