About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Remote Community Engagement Specialist to foster positive relationships between their mining operations and surrounding communities, with strategic input for their Soweto -based social responsibility team. This role is vital for ensuring that mining activities are conducted responsibly and sustainably, addressing community needs and mitigating potential negative impacts. You will develop and implement engagement strategies, facilitate dialogue, and oversee community development initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of social impact in the mining sector, and the ability to manage these crucial relationships effectively from a remote setting .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement plans and strategies.
• Facilitate open communication and dialogue between the company and local community stakeholders.
• Identify and address community concerns related to mining operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or corporate social responsibility, preferably within the mining or resource sector .
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective engagement strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Understanding of social impact assessment and community development principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a remote role .
