About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Remote Construction Health and Safety Officer to support construction projects nationwide from a remote location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. You will conduct virtual risk assessments, review safety documentation, provide expert guidance to site teams, and investigate incidents. This is a unique opportunity for a safety professional to leverage technology and expertise to foster a strong safety culture across geographically dispersed construction sites, contributing to a secure working environment for all personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems for construction projects.
- Conduct remote risk assessments, audits, and inspections of project sites through virtual means and data analysis.
- Review and approve site-specific safety plans and method statements submitted by project teams.
- Provide expert advice and training on health and safety legislation and best practices to site personnel.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident reports.
Requirements
- Certified Health and Safety Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction health and safety management.
- In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety programs.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills, with strong remote collaboration capabilities.
- Proficiency with safety management software and virtual meeting platforms.
