About the Role
Our client seeks a proactive and knowledgeable Remote Construction Health and Safety Officer to champion safety standards across their diverse portfolio of construction projects, primarily in the Klerksdorp area. This role involves remote oversight, where you will utilize technology and collaboration tools to ensure that all sites adhere to the strictest safety regulations and best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety plans for construction projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
- Conduct remote risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and recommend preventive measures for construction sites.
- Facilitate and document safety training sessions for site personnel via virtual platforms.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including site inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with site managers, project teams, and regulatory bodies to promote a strong safety culture and ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably within the construction industry.
- Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACPCMP, SAIOSH).
- In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for communication, reporting, and safety management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and observational skills for effective remote hazard identification.
