Remote Data Analyst - Oil & Gas

Our client is seeking a motivated Remote Data Analyst to join their expanding operations team, supporting projects globally from Paarl (or any remote location). This role focuses on collecting, processing, and analyzing vast amounts of data generated from Oil & Gas exploration and production activities. You will transform raw data into actionable insights that drive operational efficiency, inform decision-making, and identify optimization opportunities. This is a fully remote position, ideal for an individual who excels in data-driven environments and can effectively contribute to complex projects from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and validate large datasets from various sources within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Develop and implement data analysis models and algorithms to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
• Create insightful reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with domain experts (geologists, engineers) to understand data requirements and interpret results.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements through data analysis and automation.
• Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with data governance policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python (Pandas, NumPy) or R.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Skilled in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
