Remote Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution Specialist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Remote Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Distribution to join their fully remote workforce. This role is crucial for designing and optimizing electrical distribution systems for a variety of projects, ensuring efficient and reliable power delivery. You will leverage your expertise to create robust designs, specify components, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies for distribution networks.
• Select appropriate transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cabling, and protection devices.
• Ensure all designs comply with national and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., SANS, IEC, IEEE).
• Provide technical support during the procurement, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure the integrity and reliability of power distribution solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong emphasis on power systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in electrical power distribution design.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Experience with CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Deep understanding of electrical equipment, protection schemes, and grounding principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
