About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and self-motivated Energy Analyst to join their remote market intelligence team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and reporting on trends, developments, and key players within the global and local energy markets , with a focus on the South African landscape. The ideal candidate possesses strong quantitative skills, a deep understanding of energy economics, and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights, contributing to strategic decision-making from a virtual setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of energy market dynamics , including supply, demand, pricing, and regulatory changes.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive databases and models for tracking energy production, consumption, and investment.
• Prepare regular market intelligence reports, presentations, and briefings for senior management and relevant departments.
• Monitor geopolitical events and economic factors influencing the global and regional energy sectors.
• Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities within the energy landscape, providing strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather data and insights.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Studies, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Energy Analyst or in a similar market research role.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
• Excellent understanding of energy economics , market structures, and policy frameworks.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality analysis in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Python, R) and presentation tools.
