About the Role Our client seeks a strategic Remote Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their mining operations.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management systems, ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks, and promoting best practices in environmental stewardship.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to the mining sector and a proven ability to drive environmental performance improvement from a distance.

Key Responsibilities • Develop, implement, and manage the company's environmental management system (EMS) across all mining sites. • Ensure compliance with all national and local environmental laws, regulations, and permitting requirements. • Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including water quality, air emissions, and waste management. • Conduct remote environmental audits and assessments, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies. • Prepare environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and environmental management plans (EMPs) for new projects and existing operations. • Foster a strong environmental culture through training, communication, and engagement with site personnel and management. • Report on environmental performance to senior management and regulatory agencies.

Requirements • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, with significant exposure to the mining industry. • In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting processes, and EIA procedures. • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001). • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities for remote collaboration.
