Remote Environmental Scientist - Mining

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to provide remote support for their mining operations, with a base in Stellenbosch . This position involves managing and monitoring environmental compliance, assessing impacts, and developing mitigation strategies for mining activities. You will work closely with site teams and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to environmental legislation and promote sustainable practices. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for mining projects.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs.

• Prepare environmental reports and liaise with regulatory authorities.
• Support site teams in responding to environmental incidents and developing corrective actions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management within the mining or resources industry.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to South Africa .
• Experience with environmental modeling and impact assessment techniques.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
