Remote Fleet Management Specialist

About the Role

Our client, a national provider of integrated logistics solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Fleet Management Specialist. This is a fully remote, strategic role focused on enhancing the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of our client's extensive fleet operations across South Africa. You will leverage data analytics, industry best practices, and your expertise to develop and implement fleet management strategies, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of fleet operations, maintenance, compliance, and technology, who excels in a remote work environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee fleet management policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and cost optimization.
• Analyze fleet performance data, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, driver behavior, and utilization rates, to identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and licensing requirements.
• Manage and optimize vehicle maintenance schedules, working with service providers to minimize downtime and repair costs.
• Evaluate and implement new fleet technologies, such as telematics and GPS tracking systems, to enhance operational visibility and efficiency.
• Develop and deliver training materials and resources for remote drivers and fleet support staff.
• Collaborate with procurement teams on vehicle acquisition and disposal strategies.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management on fleet performance, key metrics, and strategic recommendations.
• Investigate and resolve fleet-related incidents and issues, implementing preventative measures.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in fleet management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in fleet maintenance, compliance, fuel management, and telematics systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective fleet management strategies.
• Excellent understanding of South African transportation laws and regulations.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, suited for a remote environment.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience managing geographically dispersed fleets is a significant advantage.
