About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Remote Fleet Manager to oversee their transportation fleet operations, supporting logistics across the Free State and beyond. This fully remote role involves managing the maintenance, scheduling, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of the company's vehicle fleet. You will be responsible for ensuring all vehicles are operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements. This is a crucial position for someone with a deep understanding of fleet management principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage operations remotely, ensuring optimal performance and uptime for the entire fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fleet management policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, repairs, and preventative care programs.
- Monitor driver performance, compliance with driving hours regulations, and adherence to company policies.
- Manage fuel consumption, telematics data, and other operational costs to optimize fleet expenditure.
- Ensure all vehicles and operations comply with relevant transportation laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with logistics and dispatch teams to ensure effective vehicle utilization and timely deliveries.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management or a related transportation logistics role.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and driver management.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and telematics systems.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a fleet operation remotely and effectively communicate with field staff.
