Remote Geoscientist - Subsurface Interpretation

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Geoscientist to join their globally distributed exploration team. This position offers the flexibility of working entirely from home, focusing on subsurface interpretation for the Oil & Gas sector . You will be responsible for analyzing geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate exploration opportunities. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, strong technical skills in data interpretation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams across different time zones, contributing to global exploration strategies without the need for a fixed office location, supporting operations in regions like Mpumalanga and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and other geological datasets to identify and delineate hydrocarbon prospects.

• Develop geological models and maps to define subsurface structures and stratigraphy.

• Integrate multidisciplinary data (geological, geophysical, engineering) to assess prospectivity and risk.

• Contribute to exploration strategy, prospect ranking, and portfolio management.

• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for drilling and further evaluation.

• Utilize advanced software tools for data analysis and visualization.

Requirements

• Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in subsurface interpretation and exploration geology/geophysics.

• Proficiency with industry-standard interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).

• Strong understanding of seismic data processing, interpretation, and basin analysis.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment .
