About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Remote GIS Analyst to support their oil and gas operations, working entirely from home. This role is crucial for managing and analyzing spatial data related to exploration, production, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for creating maps, conducting spatial analysis, and maintaining the integrity of our geographic information systems, providing critical insights to field operations and strategic planning teams. This is a fully remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere, while contributing to the success of a leading energy company with significant operations in areas like Mossel Bay .

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update Geographic Information System (GIS) databases for energy assets and infrastructure.
  • Create thematic maps, spatial analysis reports, and visualizations to support exploration, production, and environmental monitoring.
  • Perform spatial analysis to identify optimal locations for new infrastructure, assess environmental impacts, and manage land rights.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across all GIS datasets.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists via remote communication tools.
  • Provide GIS support and training to non-GIS users within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a GIS Analyst, with a focus on spatial data management and analysis.
  • Proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with geospatial data formats and database management (e.g., SQL, PostGIS).
  • Familiarity with energy industry data (e.g., well locations, pipelines, seismic data) is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication for a remote role.
