Remote GIS Specialist - Mineral Exploration

This role is critical for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data to support exploration targeting and geological interpretation across various global projects. The successful candidate will leverage advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) software and spatial analysis techniques to uncover patterns and insights from geological, geophysical, and topographical datasets. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage geodatabases for mineral exploration projects.
• Create high-quality thematic maps, spatial analyses, and visualizations using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Integrate and harmonize diverse spatial datasets, including geological maps, drillhole data, geophysical surveys, and satellite imagery.
• Perform spatial analysis to identify and delineate areas of interest for mineral exploration.
• Develop and implement geoprocessing workflows and spatial models.
• Provide GIS support and training to exploration teams globally.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and data scientists to interpret spatial data and inform exploration strategies.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all GIS projects.
• Stay current with advancements in GIS technology, remote sensing, and spatial data analysis techniques.
• Contribute to the development of best practices for spatial data management and visualization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Earth Sciences, or a related field with a strong GIS focus.
• A Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS, with specific experience in the mineral exploration or natural resources sector.
• Advanced proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software suite (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and/or QGIS.
• Strong skills in spatial analysis, geodatabase management, and cartographic design.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python with ArcPy) for automating GIS tasks is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with remote sensing principles and image processing techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a remote setting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of geological mapping and exploration workflows is a plus.
