About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Remote Grid Operations Specialist to join their distributed team and contribute to the stable and efficient operation of South Africa's electrical grid. In this fully remote role, you will monitor grid performance, analyze real-time data, and implement operational strategies to ensure reliability and security of supply. You will collaborate with grid operators, engineers, and other stakeholders across the country. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to work from home while playing a critical role in the nation's energy infrastructure , leveraging expertise in power systems and real-time operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor grid performance in real-time using SCADA systems and other monitoring tools.
- Analyze grid data to identify potential instabilities, load imbalances, and operational risks.
- Implement operational procedures to manage load, generation, and grid constraints effectively.
- Coordinate with field crews and other operational teams to respond to grid events and emergencies.
- Prepare operational reports and provide insights into grid behavior and performance trends.
- Participate in scenario planning and contingency analysis to enhance grid resilience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in power system operations , grid control, or related areas.
- Proficiency with SCADA systems, power system monitoring software, and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of power grid dynamics, protection systems, and operational challenges.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly in a remote work environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
