Remote Health and Safety Advisor - Mining

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Remote Health and Safety Advisor to support their extensive mining operations, including those in the Soweto vicinity. This fully remote role is crucial for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across all sites, developing and implementing safety policies, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees. You will leverage your expertise to conduct virtual risk assessments, provide safety training, and investigate incidents, all from a remote location. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on worker well-being and operational safety within the demanding mining sector without requiring physical presence on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures for mining operations.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and deliver online health and safety training modules to employees at various levels.
• Investigate health and safety incidents and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Advise management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations relevant to the mining industry.
• Maintain comprehensive health and safety records and prepare regulatory reports.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC) or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor , preferably within the mining industry.
• In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety legislation (e.g., OHSA, MHSA).
• Excellent remote communication, training, and reporting skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools and safety management software.
